Instructed by accredited lawyers, Scott Moncrief & Associates Ltd, who represent some of the Bereaved, Survivors and Residents (BSR) in the civil claims arising out of the Grenfell Tower Tragedy, which occurred in June 2017, claimed not less than 72 victims, is considered one of the UK's worst modern disasters, and which has resulted in a public inquiry.
Instructed by alternative business structure client, Escalate Law, in a widely-reported termination of retainer case that held greater ramifications within the legal industry. The solicitor and funder successfully recovered fees for work done under a conditional fee agreement (CFA) terminated on the basis that the client gave unclear instructions, that they had been misled by their clients, and that they had been instructed to pursue an unreasonable and inappropriate litigation strategy.
Instructed by accredited lawyers, Oliver & Co, in a particularly tragic, complex, high value, asbestos-related, fatal mesothelioma claim whereupon the Deceased had built a successful business and been the family “breadwinner” against a well-funded, well-resourced government department who fully contested the claim, and which had been listed for a 4.5 day trial, but which settled for more than £5million, representing one of the highest compensation payments made out in this area of law (against an average compensation payment £145,000, based on Official Statistics, as at 2018).
