About
Provided by VMCA Advogados
VMCA’s Third Sector practice started in 2018 led by Diogo de Sant’ana, almost in an experimental way, by providing legal counselling to the National Association of Recyclable Material Collectors (ANCAT), with whom Diogo had a history of collaboration. The area expanded in the following years and now has a very diverse portfolio, ranging from philanthropical entities, educational institutions and civil society organizations.
The department is led by a group of experts, with diverse experiences and knowledge to help civil society organizations in the planning, legal formatting, execution and evaluation of strategic social projects and their impact, especially in areas related to corporate law, tax law, property, data protection and regulatory issues.
The activities of our Third Sector practice include drafting contracts and agreements with private and public institutions, both domestic and international; strategic assistance in attaining finer definition of projects and programs that takes into consideration legal and political risks that may not be apparent to non-experts; assistance in the negotiation with external sources of financing and drafting and implementing legal responses and initiatives, such as legal opinions and amici curiae, for the defense of strategic interests of civil society organizations.
