What the Team is Known For
Walnut House is a notable Exeter-based set which is well regarded for its handling of serious criminal cases. Members undertake work relating to crimes of the utmost gravity, including murders, serious assaults and sexual offences involving both adults and children, and are regularly instructed to act for both the prosecution and the defence. The set also houses considerable expertise in cases involving deaths caused by dangerous driving and high-value frauds. Anti-terrorism cases also form part of the set's expertise, with recent instructions including prosecuting in R v Shahpal, concerning online extremism through social media.
Bernard Hayward is the practice director and Vicky Andrews is the managing clerk for the crime team.
