About

Provided by Withers LLP

We are one of the most long-established banking and finance practices in Singapore, being a legal panel member of most of the licensed banks operating in Singapore.

We are best known for domestic and cross-border financing and security transactional capability, involving security over assets located both in Singapore and overseas including land, stocks and shares, assignments of contracts, insurances, performance bonds, accounts receivables, cash deposits, vehicles and other equipment.

As our banking and finance practice is also fused with our real estate practice, this means our banking lawyers are also secured real estate financing specialists, with deep knowledge of real estate laws and regulations We routinely advise banks and lenders on deals involving the financing of the acquisition of Singapore and overseas properties and buildings by developers, property investment funds, joint venture entities and consortiums, including in credit facilities for developers to finance the purchase of property en-bloc, and the subsequent development and construction loan facilities. We also advise borrowers in the negotiation of their debt arrangements and documentation, often as an extension of advising the borrower in the acquisition of the asset itself.

We work alongside our restructuring and insolvency practice to advise banks and creditor committees, judicial managers and liquidators as well as borrowers.
