Patent Litigation: Our patent litigation team includes 9 attorneys based in Austin, Texas. We litigate patent disputes in U.S. district courts and handle patent appeals at the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. We are particularly familiar with the U.S. district courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, where many patent cases are filed. We have an active lead and local counsel practice in the Western District of Texas.

While we focus on defending our clients against patent assertions, we have also achieved success asserting patents in competitor lawsuits. Patent Trials at the PTAB: Our patent litigation team also litigates patent trials (IPRs, PGRs, and CBMs) at the PTAB. We have a high success rate in challenging patents and in defending the patentability of our clients' patents.

Procuring Patents at the USTPO: Our patent prosecution team includes 9 attorneys and 1 patent agent based in Austin, Texas; Santa Cruz, California; and Dallas, Texas. Since its inception in 2015, SGB attorneys have obtained over 2000 U.S. issued patents for our clients.

Procuring Patents Internationally: Our international patent prosecution team includes 2 German attorneys based in Austin, Texas and Santa Cruz, California. These attorneys work directly with the European and German Patent Offices without the need for local counsel. This results in efficiencies and cost savings for our clients seeking intellectual property rights in Europe. In addition, our team regularly works with local counsel in other countries (e.g., China, Japan, India, Taiwan, etc.) to secure patent rights in those jurisdictions.
