Corporate, M&A, private equity. Partner and co-head of Garrigues Colombia’s M&A group. Admitted to the practice of law in Colombia and New York. His M&A practice is focused on cross-border acquisitions representing strategic investors and private equity funds in acquiring assets based in Latin America and Colombian companies in acquiring companies abroad, in a wide range of industries, including, insurance, pharma, healthcare, infrastructure tech, oil & gas, power, logistics, financial services and cash transport, for an aggregate amount of several billion USD. Key M&A deals include I Squared Capital’s acquisition of Sociedad Portuaria de Barranquilla, multiple healthcare acquisitions in Colombia by Grupo Quirónsalud (a subsidiary of Fresenius), including most recently Centro Médico Imbanaco in Cali and Clínica de la Mujer in Bogota; Directv’s sale of its Colombian FWA internet business to Telefonica; the Colombian leg of Zurich Insurance Group’s acquisition of QBE’s Latin America Operations; Prosegur’s acquisition of cash-in-transit business Proval and Transval of Grupo Almo in Central America; Banco W’s acquisition of Financiera Pagos, among others.
Career
Before joining Garrigues, Mr. Ordoñez practiced for several years in the U.S. at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and Arnold & Porter LLP, with particular focus on corporate transactions in Latin America.
