Andrzej co-heads Van Bael & Bellis’ EU competition team. He specialises in all aspects of competition law, and has considerable experience in merger control and cartel cases, distribution, pricing and licensing matters. He represents clients before the European Commission and the EU Courts, as well as in national proceedings particularly in the UK.
He has been involved in various high profile EU merger control cases, including Boeing/Embraer; London Stock Exchange/Deutsche Börse (for complainant); Canon/IRIS (Art. 22 referral); SABIC/GE Plastics; SABIC/Huntsman; Boeing/Lockheed/ULA; Caemi/Mitsui/CVRD; Boeing/Hughes; Enso/Stora; and Boeing/McDonnell Douglas.
His experience in EU cartel investigations includes the full range of leniency, settlement, adversarial proceedings and appellate work. He has acted as defence counsel in cases including: Occupant Safety Systems; Newsprint; Amino Acids (including appeal); Carbonless Paper (including appeal); Publication Papers; and Fine Papers.
He is a recognised expert in vertical agreements, and acted as EU defence counsel in one of the Licensed Merchandise proceedings.
He speaks and writes extensively on competition law matters.
