Anne is a board-certified appellate lawyer, with more than twenty years of experience handling litigation at all stages in Texas state and federal courts. Anne has been involved in some of the largest, most high-profile appeals in Texas, representing clients such as Toyota Motor Corporation, the National Football League, BBVA Compass, and AT&T. Anne has particular expertise in post-trial proceedings and appeals from large jury verdicts around the state, and has an impressive track record of successfully resolving these cases on appeal. Anne is frequently called on to get involved in early in high-exposure cases, framing key legal arguments and crafting strategy in motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and at trial.
In December 2020, Anne was named Litigator of Week in AmLaw Litigation Daily for her successful representation of BBVA in the Dallas Court of Appeals in reversing a $110 million fraud verdict.
Career
In 2022, Anne joined Chambers-ranked trial lawyer Jeff Tillotson and Jon Patton to form a trial and appellate boutique – Tillotson Johnson and Patton.
Prior to joining Tillotson and Patton in 2022, Anne was an appellate partner in the Dallas office of Haynes Boone for 26 years, where she served on the firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and chaired the Litigation Department.
Professional Memberships
Anne is a Leader of the University of Texas Center for Women in Law, a Master in the Patrick E. Higginbotham Inn of Court, and serves on the board of the Dallas Breakfast Group. She also currently serves on the board of the Homeless Collaborative, a regional planning body that coordinates housing and services funding for homeless families and individuals in Dallas and Collin Counties.
Personal
Anne was born and raised in England, and maintains dual US/UK citizenship. She graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and from the University of Texas School of Law in 1995. Anne and her husband, Texas Senator Nathan Johnson, have three children: Finn (21), Theo (19), and Sophie (17).
