Benjamin May is a founder and partner at ARAMIS law firm in Paris, where he is heading the Technology & Regulatory practice. His expertise covers Fintech-related matters, including on payment and e-money regulation, financial regulation, anti-money laundering, outsourcing and GDPR.
He advises licensed institutions, PSPs, acquirers, merchants and more generally FinTechs and InsurTechs, both foreign and French based.
His practice further tackles commercial contracts, disciplinary proceedings, and dispute resolution.
Career
Prior to founding ARAMIS, Benjamin worked for the law firms Gide, both in Budapest and Paris, and de Pardieu Brocas & Maffei in Paris. He graduated from the University of Paris XI and the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP Europe). He speaks French and English.
Professional Memberships
Benjamin May is a member of ITECHLAW, AFEPAME and ADAN, the French professional association for the development of digital assets. He is also a founding member of the Fintech Lawyers Network, the leading network of independent fintech law firms in Europe, founded at Money 2020 in 2016.
Benjamin works in close connection with the French regulators on transposition work of EU texts, in particular AML and e-money and payment directives. He also works at EU level and is admitted to the Brussels Bar.
