Career

Brendan has been a partner in Mayne Wetherell since early 2021, having been a partner in another firm for 18 years before then.

Brendan’s practice covers a range of New Zealand tax issues but with a focus on corporate and international taxation. He has represented clients in respect of some of New Zealand’s most significant commercial transactions and tax disputes.

Professional Memberships

Brendan chairs the New Zealand Branch of the International Fiscal Association and is a member of the Taxation Institute of Australia and the Practice Council of the New York University International Tax Program. He has lectured in tax and commercial law subjects at the Victoria University of Wellington and University of Otago.

Publications

One of two lead authors of the New Zealand chapter of the IBFD Global Tax Treaty Commentaries.
