Career
Brent's notable briefs include: (a) the defence of a class proceeding brought under British Columbia’s Opioid Damages and Health Care Costs Recovery Act; (b) the defence of a class proceeding brought against a municipal government in the wake of catastrophic flooding in November 2021; (c) the defence of the first Indigenous title case involving urban lands; (d) the prosecution of a civil forfeiture action against three clubhouses of an outlaw motorcycle gang; and (e) the defence of a class proceeding brought against British Columbia's Public Guardian and Trustee, concerning RESP and RDSP investment vehicles.
Brent was appointed King’s Counsel as part of the 2022 cohort.

Brent has published peer-reviewed journal articles in the fields of Aboriginal law, criminal practice and gaming law, and has been cited as an academic authority by the Supreme Court of Canada. Brent is also the author of the Professional Conduct chapter in a leading text on the practice of law in Canada.

Brent sits on the board of the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC, and is a regular contributor in CPD conferences, on diverse topics including administrative, commercial and constitutional law. He was the chair of The Advocates' Society's Commercial Litigation Practice Group in 2022-23.
