Practice Areas
Christopher practises in administrative, public law and human rights law and has a particular specialism in data protection and information law. He acts for claimants (individuals, NGOs and corporates) and defendants (Government, regulators, policing bodies and local authorities). Recent high-profile cases include: the Rwanda deportation scheme challenge; the prorogation of Parliament; the Article 50 Brexit litigation; multiple Scottish devolution references to the Supreme Court, including in relation to a proposed independence referendum; the Duke of Sussex’s police protection challenge; the Schrems 2 case on international data transfers; a series of challenges to the disclosure scheme for criminal records; the multiple challenges to the immigration exemption in the Data Protection Act 2018; the leading Supreme Court case on policy challenges; the enforceability of private email and WhatsApp policies in public law; multiple significant first instance and appellate freedom of information and data protection cases; and various proceedings before the CJEU and ECtHR. He is a member of the Attorney General’s A Panel.
