Practice Areas
Clifford provides strategic advice and counsel to a broad range of private and public sector employers on diverse labour relations and employment-law related issues including: collective bargaining; union-organizing campaigns; unfair labour practices; strikes and picketing; discipline and discharge; human rights and employment standards. He assists in the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures. Clifford appears as employer counsel in grievance and interest arbitrations and before administrative tribunals including the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.
Clifford regularly represents clients in collective bargaining, either as lead spokesperson, or behind the scenes providing strategic advice. He has also worked on a number of wage and hour and “misclassification” class actions. He also acts as counsel to National Hockey League clubs in salary arbitration disputes with their players, and recently represented another major professional sports league in an unfair labour practice complaint.
