Commercial litigator Craig has an excellent reputation for solving disputes in the corporate, asset-based lending, waste management and environment sectors. He acts for corporate clients on a number of regulatory matters. He also specialises in private sector work, handling a range of litigation involving wills, trusts and probate.
Craig has a particular focus on contentious inheritance disputes, including the validity of testamentary documents, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975 and disputes regarding the administration of trusts and estates .
Craig has built up an impressive track record at court and has led the team to success in High Court trials, including a libel claim involving a jurisdiction challenge under the Recast Brussels Regulations, an unfair prejudice (minority shareholder) action over an accountancy practice and a worldwide freezing injunction and claim for deferred consideration following the sale of a business.
Craig is an experienced mediation advocate and is an accredited mediator of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution CEDR. He has settled a variety of commercial and private client disputes using a range of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. He is also a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).
Craig and his team made new law when they defended a £3m claim against his waste management client after the claimant tried to accept an old settlement offer, half way through the trial. The decision was heavily reported on the question of whether or not to allow acceptance of a Part 36 offer during trial.
