Partner at Aninat Abogados. Attorney, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; Master of Laws from the same university. Diploma in Competition Economics, Universidad de Los Andes; Diploma in Recurso de Protección, Universidad Diego Portales; and coursework in Competition Law, Universidad Gabriela Mistral.
Cristián Reyes has over 20 years of professional experience, focusing his practice on Fintech, Competition Law, Regulation, Corporate, Compliance, and complex litigation. Between 2009 and 2012, he served as Head of the Legal and Litigation Divisions of the National Economic Prosecutor's Office of Chile (Chilean Antitrust Agency), leading investigations, proceedings, and mergers promoted by the Competition Defense Tribunal and the Supreme Court. Also he worked as a senior attorney and partner in different law firms specializing in fintech, regulation, competition law, compliance, and complex litigation. Throughout his career, he has been involved in well-known and publicized cases in Chile across various industries, including Fintech, Payment methods and Cryptocurrencies.
Mr. Reyes is an opinion leader in fintech, technology, regulated markets, competition law, compliance, and litigation, among other topics. He is a regular columnist for well-known media outlets in the country including El Mercurio Legal, Diario Financiero, La Tercera, Estado Diario, among others. He has been invited frequently as a panelist to various national and international seminars and forums on fintech, digital economy, compliance, among other topics. During de last years he participated, through FinteChile and other fintech companies, in discussions on the fintech bill, the transition of the payments industry to a four-party model, and the implementation of maximum interchange fees in line with recent regulatory changes in Chile.
