Dan practices in Employment Law and Professional Discipline. He is involved in complex, high profile cases often attracting media attention and represents both private and public sector clients. He also conducts serious injury cases. Dan accepts Direct Public Access instructions and is a member of ELBA, ELA and PIBA.
Dan is presently instructed in numerous employment tribunal and employment appeal tribunal cases representing large private and public sector employers in respect of discrimination and whistleblowing matters.
In 2021/2022, Dan was instructed by South Yorkshire Police and the Metropolitan Police to present disciplinary cases arising out of the Rotherham Child Sexual Exploitation scandal and the Undercover Policing Inquiry. He appeared as junior counsel in two linked Judicial Review cases concerning the appropriateness of retaining police officers found guilty of criminal offences.
Before being called to the Bar in 1998, Dan was a semi-professional drummer. He trained at Temple Chambers before becoming joint Head of Employment at 13 King’s Bench Walk. He joined 5 Essex Chambers in 2014. Dan is co-author of the Employment Tribunals Handbook (6th Edition) published by Bloomsbury Professional. He was a featured ‘Mover and Shaker’ in the New Law Journal in July 2021.
