Dan is a trial lawyer and a business counselor in antitrust and trade regulation, and in an array of corporate governance and commercial matters, class actions, arbitrations and lawsuits.
He was firmwide managing partner of Reed Smith LLP from 1992 until 2001. During his tenure, Reed Smith grew dramatically and became a global partnership.
For more than 20 years, Dan has been recognized as one of America’s leading lawyers in numerous legal directories and publications, and in 2016, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award of The Legal Intelligencer.
Dan currently serves as Immediate Past Chair of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. He is a past Chair of the Pittsburgh CLO, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, Penn’s Southwest Association, the Pennsylvania Lawyer’s Fund for Client Security, the Committee for Mellon Square, the Regional Air Service Partnership, the CLO Next Generation Campaign, CLO Cabaret Theater, CLO Academy of Musical Theater, the Allegheny County Bar Association Antitrust and Class Action Committee, and the American Bar Association Antitrust Section Civil Practice Committee.
He served for many years on the Steering Committee of the Pro Bono Institute, on the Visiting Committee of the University of Chicago Law School, in the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, and on the Allegheny County Democratic Committee.
