Practice Areas
David specialises in domestic and international construction, infrastructure, energy, information technology, PFI, professional negligence, private international law and general commercial matters. Recent work includes disputes concerning an international airport (involving multiple separate claims), desalination and wastewater plants, luxury yachts and a £700m national computer network. David appears in the High Court and County Courts both led and unled, and has extensive experience of international & domestic arbitration, adjudication, mediation and pre-action work. He has recently acted for clients in disputes arising out of Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, Oman, Abu Dhabi, Jersey, Ukraine and Liberia.
Domestically, David appears regularly in the TCC and arbitration proceedings and is currently engaged in number of disputes involving cladding and fire-stopping issues following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, including the construction of MediaCity in Salford. He is also currently engaged as sole Counsel in a multi-party dispute involving the construction of the UNISON headquarters in London.
David also accepts instructions in a range of general commercial matters. He is also an accredited adjudicator.
David has been instructed by private and public sector employers, insurers, developers, contractors, sub-contractors and construction professionals. David is familiar with most domestic and international standard form contracts including the JCT suite, FIDIC Red, Yellow and Silver Books, ICE and NEC3, as well as numerous specialist contracts. David is an accredited adjudicator and a contributing editor to the Building Law Reports and Hudson’s Building and Engineering Contracts.
