Desmond has practised in social housing for over 20 years and has appeared in leading cases decided in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Desmond acts primarily for local authorities; at least 6 in the last year (Lambeth, Hackney, Haringey, Hammersmith & Fulham, Southend-on-Sea, Hillingdon).
In the last year, he has been involved a broad range of cases including: anti-social behaviour and vulnerable tenants; property issues; homelessness; leaseholder issues (including service charges, e.g. see LON/00AY/LSC/2016/0041); and a challenge to the action of LB Hackney’s Environmental Health department in Richards v Investigatory Powers Tribunal [2017] EWHC 560 (QB)
