Eleanor has a specialist, and diverse, Business and Property practice focusing principally on the areas of Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring, Property (both real and commercial) and Dispute Resolution.
Eleanor is frequently instructed in complex litigation where there is a cross-over between insolvency and property law and also in respect of unfair prejudice petitions, cases involving allegations of breach of directors’ duties and misfeasance and winding-up petitions on just and equitable grounds. Eleanor also acts for, and against banks, in litigation concerning allegations of undue influence pertaining to mortgages and guarantees.
As an outstanding Trial advocate, Eleanor is often instructed in matters which require an in-depth analysis of extensive documentation coupled with a fearless approach to cross-examination. Eleanor’s Trial successes this year have involved, amongst others, successfully resisting a Claim brought on the basis of alleged breaches of restrictive covenants contained within a shareholders’ agreement (arising out of the relevant company’s liquidation) and successfully resisting an action for repayment of a deposit pursuant to section 49(2) of the Law of Property Act 1925.

Eleanor frequently gives seminars on topics which arise within her practice areas. In May 2024, she addressed the Inaugural Conference of the Northern Business and Property Bar Association on the topic of “Familiarity breeds contempt – or does it? CPR Part 81 and Proceedings for Contempt”.
