Career

Eric focuses his practice on both litigation and transactional construction law. He has represented developers, international corporations, contractors, subcontractors, construction managers and designers on diverse projects, from Freedom Tower in New York to Willis Tower in Chicago, from dredging the Mississippi River to building casinos in Las Vegas, from Midwest wind farms to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

Eric has more than 25 years of experience investigating, negotiating, and litigating disability access claims under federal, state, and local laws—including Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act, and the Chicago Building Code—and, most recently, claims involving a hotel in California, a restaurant in Chicago, and multifamily housing developments in Oklahoma.

Prior to joining the Barnes & Thornburg, Eric served in an in-house counsel role where he provided advice on multiple corporate topics including contract drafting, extras claims, payment disputes, mechanics liens, labor and employment matters, compliance issues, personal injury and workers compensation, public contracts, real estate transactions, insurance and risk management, and surety and bond questions.
