R. Eric Bilik has represented railroad and rail transportation companies in litigation, administrative and regulatory matters for more than 25 years and leads the firm’s rail transportation industry team. He has served as lead counsel for a Class I railroad and short-line railroads in myriad disputes and litigation matters before various tribunals across the eastern United States, including proceedings before the Surface Transportation Board and the Court of Federal Claims. Eric’s practice includes representation of railroads in a wide array of commercial, regulatory, real property and tort disputes and litigation matters in federal and state courts, including dozens of cases involving federal pre-emption of state law claims affecting rail transportation facilities and operations, as well as commercial and real property ownership disputes involving railroad title and real property rights. His representation of railroads has also included the defense of mass and toxic tort lawsuits involving current and former rail facilities and the defense of punitive damage claims arising from railroad operations. Eric previously served as managing partner of the firm’s Jacksonville office for more than a decade, and he served two terms on the firm’s Board of Partners.
