Fernando Martín Vaquero

Career

Fernando Vaquero has been a member of Marval O'Farrell Mairal since 2000 and works in the Tax Department of the firm. He was made partner in 2015.

He has experience in tax counseling, advising banks and local and foreign companies in the design, planning and organization of tax-efficient financial transactions, international taxation; he also has experience advising on litigation in tax issues. Fernando also participated in several arbitration procedures advising on local and cross-border tax matters.

Fernando is ranked in Chambers Latin America Guide for Tax. The publication included Fernando in its recent 2023 Guide stating that “Noted partner Fernando Martín Vaquero is often instructed by clients to advise on tax structuring issues, as well as significant matters pertaining to foreign exchange regulations. One interviewee states: "Fernando Martín Vaquero is a great professional who has a practical approach, which makes complex matters easy.".

Before joining the firm he worked for Arthur Andersen (Pistrelli, Diaz & Asociados) in their Business Process and Risk Consulting Department from 1999 - 2000 and in the Ministry of Economy from 1996 - 1999.

A lawyer and certified public accountant, Fernando graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1999 and 2001 respectively.

Fernando is the author of a number of books and articles on taxation. In 2005, the Argentina Association of Tax Studies awarded the book where Fernando is co-author “Aspectos Internacionales de la Tributación Argentina”, the award for the best taxation book published that year. He is also a professor of tax law at Universidad San Andres and has participated in numerous conferences and lectures on taxation. Fernando is an active member of the Argentine Fiscal Association and the International Fiscal Association.

Fernando has wide expertise en arbitration procedures, and he also participated as advisor for Expert Witness procedures.
