Flávio Luiz Yarshell has graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo and holds a Master and a Doctorate degree in Civil Procedural Law from the same institution. He is a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo Law School, where he teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
He works as a lawyer in the advisory and litigation and arbitration areas, specialising in Civil Procedural Law, Civil, Family and Probate Law, as well as Corporate and Administrative Law. He is also an active arbitrator in leading Chambers of Arbitration and Mediation across Brazil.
From 2006 to 2012, he served as a judge on the São Paulo Regional Electoral Court, receiving the Paulista Electoral Merit Award in 2011, in recognition of his contributions to democratic practice and the electoral process in the State of São Paulo.
He was a counsellor for the AASP from 1999 to 2007 and has been a member of the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law since 1993, the Ibero-American Institute of Procedural Law since 1994, and the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) from 1998 to 2007. He has been a member of the International Association of Procedural Law since 1999 and an effective partner of the São Paulo Lawyers Institute since April 1995. He is a also member of the American Law Institute.
