He is widely recognized as a leading lawyer in Italy on IP matters by independent souces..

Giovanni has wealth of experience representing leading corporations before the Italian courts in complex cross-border litigation cases on patent, design and trademarks also involving antitrust issues - as well advising on technology transfers and licensing.

Career

Giovanni’s practice has been exclusively dedicated to Intellectual Property law for 30+ years.

In July 2021 he joined the firm from Dentons where he was the Head of their IP department. He has also previously acted as the Managing Partner of Bardehle Pagenberg - Italy and as Head of IP - Clifford Chance in Italy.

Giovanni is also very active in the education of the next generation of IP professionals as a specialist IP lecturer and Co-Director of courses at the University Politecnico Milan - of note the UPC European Patent Litigation Course.

He is member of IPR Helpdesk China (since 2006), IPR2, and IPKeys - involved in studies and training initiatives in Europe and China.

Giovanni is the Republic of San Marino's external advisor for IP issues - and contributed to the adoption of their IP Code (2005).
