Practice Areas
Gurion practices primarily in personal injury and clinical negligence. He also maintains a costs and commercial practice. Gurion’s personal injury work is broad, covering employers’ liability, fatal accidents and road traffic claims as well as industrial disease and CICAP. Claims typically range from £100K to over £1M. Gurion has particular interest in spinal and traumatic brain injuries. He has developed niche practice in prison-related litigation, defending injury and medical negligence claims brought by prisoners. In his clinical negligence work, Gurion regularly deals with complex and high-value matters, and has developed particular expertise in gynaecological claims including the high-profile vaginal mesh litigation.
Career
Gurion studied English Literature at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge (1993) and completed MA and PhD in English Literature at University of Leeds (1999). Gurion studied law at BPP and was called to the Bar in 2001. After pupillage at 4 Pump Court, Gurion accepted tenancy at 199 Strand and subsequently, Lamb Chambers (2006). Wishing further to specialise in personal injury and clinical negligence, in 2011 Gurion took up tenancy at 9 Gough Square (now Deka Chambers).
Publications
Gurion is co-editor of the Personal Injury chapter of the Green Book and the BPILS’ Road Traffic chapters. He regularly gives talks on personal injury topics. Prior to coming to the Bar his Phd thesis was published as a monograph: ‘Coleridge and the Idea of Friendship, 1789-1804’ (University of Delaware, 2002).
Personal
Gurion is married with a daughter. He has professional qualification in the piano (A.L.C.M) and has a life-long passion for travel and tennis.
