Career
Hans is a co-founder and Senior Partner of Eubelius. He counsels and represents our clients in connection with matters before the European Court of Justice, the European Commission, the Belgian competition authority, and all Belgian courts. Hans has long-standing expertise in the financial sector, including payment schemes and payment systems.
Hans holds law degrees from KU Leuven (1984) and Harvard Law School (1985) and is a member of the Brussels Bar. Prior to joining the Bar, he served as Legal Secretary to the late Walter Van Gerven, Advocate-General at the European Court of Justice (1988–1992).
Hans is the author of numerous publications, mostly in the area of competition law. He serves on the editorial board of several specialised law journals, including Tijdschrift voor Belgisch Handelsrecht - Revue de Droit Commercial, Tijdschrift voor Belgische Mededinging - Revue de Concurrence Belge, and Tijdschrift voor Staatssteun. In addition to English, Dutch and French, Hans also is fluent in German.
