Practice Areas
Heather specialises in criminal defence, professional discipline cases, inquests and licensing law.
She has successfully represented clients accused of a wide spectrum of criminal offences. This includes a range of fraudulent offending (money laundering, fraud, forgery, bribery and corruption, theft) in her own right and as a led junior, in addition to various matters concerning the proceeds of crime. She has considerable experience representing those accused of sexual misconduct (rape, sexual assault, historic child sex offences, exposure/outraging public decency, voyeurism), and has developed particular expertise in defending cases of making/possessing indecent images of children. Her criminal practice also encompasses offences of serious violence, in particular in a domestic context, as well as matters relating to stalking, harassment and coercive and controlling behaviour. She has successfully appeared in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) on a number of occasions, including most recently in Hackett [2019] EWCA Crim 983.
