Practice Areas

For nearly two decades, KSTM founding partner Heidi Tallentire has focused her practice exclusively on complex matrimonial and family law matters, from complicated financial issues to pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements to same-sex divorces to custody disputes. Her cases often involve multi-jurisdictional issues, and she has particular experience representing executives (or their spouses) in the hedge fund, private equity, and venture capital sectors, as well as other high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

Heidi approaches each case individually, as she believes it is of the utmost importance in the highly personal area of family law. She works to understand her clients’ specific desires and builds her legal strategies around them. When matters can’t be resolved through negotiation, she is prepared to address them in court and has tried multiple cases in New York and Connecticut courts. Heidi also has particular experience with New York appeals and advocating for a different result in the New York Appellate Division and the New York Court of Appeals.

Career

Heidi has received many honors from her work, including recognition as a Notable Woman in Law (Crain’s New York Business), a Best Lawyer for Family Law, and a New York Super Lawyer in Family Law. She is ranked as a top-tier lawyer by Chambers High Net Worth for Family/Matrimonial Law in New York.

Prior to co-founding KSTM, Heidi was a partner at Blank Rome, in one of the nation’s largest matrimonial practices. She recently served as an adjunct professor of law at Rutgers School of Law-Newark’s S.I. Newhouse Center for Law and Justice, where she taught courses on family law.

Heidi is dedicated to strengthening families and assisting those in need through volunteering. She previously sat on the board of directors of Sheltering Arms, which seeks to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty through educational and developmental support for children and families in New York. She was also a board member of Weston United, which provides housing for the homeless and assists those with mental illnesses in New York City.

Heidi graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2005, and also received an M.A. and B.A. with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002.
