Work Highlights
Henry is a co-head of our litigation/arbitration practice group. He has vast experience spanning decades as a litigator, arbitration counsel, and arbitrator, with particular expertise in disputes arising from commercial transactions, securities, labour and industrial relations, oil spill and maritime claims.
As a seasoned Arbitrator, Henry regularly acts as Arbitrator and Counsel in arbitration proceedings.
Notable achievements
Successfully defended an indigenous oil exploration and prospecting company against a multi-billion naira oil spill claim arising from a 2016 oil spill incident at Emereoke Kingdom, Eastern Obolo LGA, Akwa Ibom State
Successfully defended a multinational oil company and some indigenous oil and gas companies against a multi-trillion naira oil spill claim involving the “All Farmers Association of Nigeria”, commenced before the National Human Right Commission on Oil Spills and Environmental Pollution and also at the Court of Appeal
Currently defending an indigenous oil and gas company against disputes arising from the bidding and acquisition of an oil prospecting licence in the Niger Delta region
Representing a Maritime Company in a multi-million Naira maritime suit
Lead Counsel in a multi-billion Naira arbitration involving multinational engineering and construction companies
Experience
Henry has represented indigenous and multinational clients at trial and appellate courts in Nigeria and has sat as lead Arbitrator in several arbitral proceedings involving multinational and indigenous entities with claims running into millions of dollars. In the last decade, Henry has successfully represented clients in disputes with a total value exceeding US$1 billion.
