Practice Areas
Hugh Lee is a partner in Cassidy Levy Kent’s Ottawa office. In his decade-long career in the field of international trade law, he has assisted clients in a wide range of trade issues from both private and institutional perspectives. As a member of Cassidy Levy Kent’s Ottawa team, Mr. Lee assists clients in the full spectrum of Canadian trade law, with an emphasis in matters related to trade remedies, customs, sanctions, and export-import controls. Prior to the current tenure, Mr. Lee was a dispute settlement lawyer for the World Trade Organization. As part of the Appellate Body Secretariat, he served the Appellate Body in hearing appeals from reports issued by WTO panels, and as part of the Rules Division he assisted the Negotiating Group on Rules in the fisheries subsidies negotiations.
Mr. Lee holds a J.D. from University of Ottawa (cum laude) and a Bachelor of Commerce (with distinction) from University of Toronto.
Before his legal career, Mr. Lee was a systems integration consultant, working in a number of large public infrastructure projects.
