Hugh has a broad commercial and chancery practice, with a particular emphasis on cases involving fraud or breach of fiduciary duty. His practice extends to insolvency, company, trusts (onshore and offshore in all of these areas) as well as international arbitration.
Career
He has been involved in many of the larger multi-party commercial and commercial fraud cases in recent years, including PIFSS v Al Rajaan (ongoing), a bribery / money-laundering claim where he is co-leading the Claimant’s team seeking to recover over $800m, Jinxin v Aser Media a US$700m+ deceit claim arising from the sale of a media rights business; Vale v Steinmetz & ors (2020-2021); ArcelorMittal v Essar Steel (during 2019), Accident Exchange v Autofocus & ors (2016-2018), a £100m+ conspiracy claim brought by a credit hire company against a number of firms of solicitors and experts and BTA Bank v Ablyazov, [2013] EWHC 510 (Comm).
