Practice Areas
Dr Van den Berg advises on the full spectrum of commercial work, including banking and project financing, competition, information and communication technology and general corporate issues. He also advises clients in the energy and natural resources sector on environmental, regulatory and other matters. His clients range from banking institutions, private companies, international companies, as well as individuals.
Career
Dr Van den Berg started his career at Koep & Partners in Windhoek, Namibia, as a candidate attorney in 2009. He remained with the firm and became partner in 2015. In 2021, he moved over to ESI as a consultant.
He is a court-accredited mediator and often acts as trustee, company director and company secretary. He has conducted board induction trainings and other trainings to clients and is the former Chairperson of the Law Society of Namibia and the Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund.
Furthermore, Dr Van den Berg is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town, where he is affiliated with the DST/NRF Research Chair: Mineral Law in Africa. He lectures mineral law in Africa, oil and gas law and mine contract negotiation and also regularly publishes on mining, energy and environmental law.
