Practice Areas

In her practice, Jacquelyn advises a diverse array of clients including insureds, brokers, and insurtechs on a broad range of issues. She helps clients navigate complex claims and coverage issues across many lines of coverage including directors & officers, errors & omissions, cyber and media liability, representations and warranties, and general liability, from coverage placement to payment, often through alternative dispute resolution.

Jacquelyn advises institutional clients on the depth and breadth of their insurance programs at all stages of company development: she guides them through availability and placement of coverage, through major events such as mergers and acquisitions, and in the face of unique risks, often helping design bespoke coverage options. She has helped design risk management programs and customized insurance policies for major sporting events, including the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Bid and major financial services clients.

In addition, Jacquelyn is a trusted advisor for private institutions, including colleges and universities, on risk management issues and complex insurance claims involving accusations of sexual abuse and other misconduct; sports-related injuries, including concussions; and employment-related claims, including improper poaching and wrongful termination. She regularly works on securing coverage for complex securities claims, post-merger disputes, and investigations or suits from regulators, protecting the company assets as well as those of the directors & officers, including in the bankruptcy context.

Jacquelyn and her insurance colleagues at Cooley are market leaders in tackling the legal and regulatory challenges in the insurtech space. The group counsels both startups and large established companies, including venture capital investors, on regulatory and transactional issues, and helps create new products or put in place new business structures for insurance-related endeavors.

Career

Jacquelyn served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard N. Palmer at the Connecticut Supreme Court. While in law school, Jacquelyn was an Alexander Fellow for the Honorable Kimba M. Wood at the US District Court for the Southern District of New York and a judicial intern for the Honorable Jane S. Solomon at the New York State Supreme Court. She also served as associate editor of Cardozo Law Review. She maintains an active pro bono practice in the area of immigration, including the representation of asylum-seekers and those seeking U visas and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.
