James Mee is an award-winning corporate lawyer whose practice spans multiple jurisdictions and sectors. He created and led RPC's Corporate Insurance and Financial Services business, and in recent years has focused on private equity transactions in insurance and other sectors.

James' practice covers private equity and M&A transactions of all types across a range of sectors, as well as insurance specific transactions such as Part VIIs, MGAs and the full range of Lloyd's arrangements including syndicate start-ups, special purpose arrangements, RITCs and funds at Lloyd's.

James is the Co-Chair of Link, the insurance market-wide network for LGBT professionals and allies; sat on the board of RPC Tyche [from 30 May 2020, RPC Consulting became RPC Tyche LLP]; and is a trustee of the English National Ballet School.

Work Highlights

Advised Aviva on its acquisition of Lloyd’s insurer Probitas for £242m, marking Aviva’s return to the thriving Lloyd’s of London market after more than 20 years.

Served as lead deal counsel for the majority shareholders in Beat Capital Partners' and Bain Capital on Ambac Financial Group's acquisition of a majority stake in Beat.

Advised the management sellers of Castel Underwriting Agencies Limited on the sale to Ryan Speciality.
