Practice Areas
James is a co-founder of Siwatibau and Sloan and provides commercial advice, particularly in the areas of ocean and natural resource governance, risk management, energy law, telecommunications, employment law and media law.
James is involved in ongoing project-based work for a number of international and regional organisations. James also manages the firm’s pro-bono work and teaches law of the sea and oceans governance part time within the School of Marine Studies, University of the South Pacific.
Career
James Sloan qualified as a barrister at law in England in March 1999. James practiced for three years in London and the South-East in the areas of administrative law, environmental law, town and country planning and general civil litigation and prosecution work.
James was admitted to the Fiji Bar on 25 April 2003 and initially specialized in litigation in the areas of media law, energy law, employment law, administrative law, land law, personal injury and general claims.
In 2015 James qualified as a Public Access Barrister in England and Wales.
