Career

Javier Cardoso is a partner at Apolo Abogados and has a legal practice focused on productive sectors such as maritime, port, fishing, energy, mining, and gas.

In the field of energy, mining, and gas, he focuses on regulatory law and the contractual structuring of projects, as well as Mergers & Acquisitions.

As a specialist in maritime and port law, he handles incidents by representing shipowners and P&I Clubs in cases of collision, salvage, and wreck removal. His expertise and practice also extend to fishing law.

Javier is a professor of Contract Law at the Universidad Católica de Guayaquil, the author of Ecuador's Fisheries Law Project, and a consultant for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for drafting its regulations.

He was the Vice Minister of Fisheries of Ecuador, a member of the Board of Directors of the Guayaquil Bar Association, and the Executive Secretary General of the Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law (IIDM). He is a permanent member of the Ecuadorian MLA (ASEDMAR), IIDM, and the founder of the Ecuadorian Association of Fisheries Law (ADEPESCA).
