Career
A lawyer who has been practicing in Spain since 1992 (except from August 1993 to July 1994, when he pursued an LL.M. at the Yale Law School), in the field where Public Law and Private Law merge and coincide: regulated sectors, new markets, joint ventures and strategic alliances between public authorities and private companies, including national and cross-border transactions, investments or M&A in sectors such as banking, energy, mobility or business under concessionary conditions.
Law and society are his leitmotiv: one loses meaning without the other, and the second brings the true essence of the legal profession: helping others build on their wishes, their businesses and their goals. This has led him to participate actively in different civil society associations (for example, as a member of the Board at the Bar Association of Barcelona or the Circle of Economics, as the President of the Association of Students of Scholarships La Caixa, as the Co-chair of the Academic and Professional Development Committee of the IBA, or as the Patron in the Women's Link or Down-FCSD Syndrome foundations, among others).
He has been recommended by several directories (Chambers, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers, including recognition by the latter as "Best lawyer of the year" in Barcelona). What he most appreciates and takes as the main consideration and recommendation is the interest shown by the students and the questions they raise in his sessions at the University (previously at UAB or ESADE, and today at UPF) or at other conferences (IBA, AIJA, Terralex, Foment del Treball and Col • legi de Notaris or the Toulouse Business School).
Since January 2017, his partners appointed him as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of our Firm (which he considers an honor and a challenge, deeply appreciating their trust), and now he shares his duties and functions as a lawyer with those of a “partner director in the era of digitalization and cultural transformation of companies”.
Joan speaks English, French, Spanish and Catalan.
