John is a seasoned construction lawyer with over 20 years of experience arbitrating, litigating, and advising clients on complex construction matters in the United States and abroad. He is the Editor-in-Chief of The Construction Lawyer, a scholarly journal published by the American Bar Association, and he is a past chair of the International Construction Division of the ABA Forum on Construction Law.
Career
After clerking for the U.S. District Court Judge Edward F. Harrington, John began his career as a construction lawyer at Thelen Reid & Priest. When Thelen dissolved in 2008, John followed the Thelen construction group to Howrey LLP and then to Jones Day, where he was a partner for 5 years. In 2019, John joined his friends and former Thelen construction lawyers at Ralls Gruber. In addition to construction law, John represents tech companies abroad, including Facebook and WhatsApp.
