Personal

John Refalo is a well-known litigator having over 20 years’ experience representing clients in litigation and arbitration in various fora, both at a local and international level. His experience includes representation of clients in all Courts and Tribunals in Malta, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice. He regularly represents clients in arbitrations brought under the rules of the ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, the LCIA and the LMAA and has been involved in several disputes involving the enforcement of Arbitral Awards.

He acts in complex disputes which often require coordinated action in different jurisdictions. Usually this would involve elements of insolvency, shareholders’ rights, joint ventures, fraud or asset tracing. John is also regularly involved in building, marine and insurance disputes, many of which have an international element. He also advises on non-contentious and transactional matters.
