Broad-based commercial disputes practice with a wide range of experience in the English courts and in international arbitration under different institutional rules. Specialising in banking and finance, general commercial disputes, civil fraud and international arbitration. Recent instructions include: successfully defending one of Thailandā€™s largest bankā€™s against fraudulent conspiracy claims for c. US$ 900 million (5-month trial 2022-2023), successfully defending the worldā€™s largest private drinks manufacturer against claims under a guarantee held to have been discharged, successfully resisting enforcement of an ICC award in the energy sector for over US$ 3 billion, currently acting in EUR 150 million securitisation and ISDAMA-related claims for one of the UKā€™s largest banks, currently acting in various shareholder and partnership disputes, currently acting in various SPA-related disputes, and currently acting for various gambling operators in respect of alleged professional negligence. Other career highlights include: the HIH litigation, the Springwell litigation, the Belmont ā€˜flip clauseā€™ litigation, and successfully defending various fraud claims in arbitrations in Singapore and London for over US$ 1.5 billion in total.
