Mr. Jong-Han Oh gained wide acclaim for his practice in securities, finance and commercial litigations in domestic and foreign markets for the past three decades since joining Shin & Kim in 1989. He is presently the managing partner at Shin & Kim.
Mr. Jong-Han Oh represented key domestic and foreign corporations in major lawsuits and legal disputes relating to securities, finance, and M&A. He represented Samsung Group, winning the litigation that involved around KRW 5 trillion worth commitments of Samsung Motors’ creditors. He also represented Korea’s first hostile takeover in M&A involving the dispute over management control of Hanwha Merchant Bank, as well as the dispute over the management of Lakeside Country Club. He also built a strong reputation in the area of high-profile corporate litigation and dispute resolution through various cases, including representation of Daewoo Securities in a redemption lawsuit of beneficiary securities worth hundreds of billions of Korean Won.
Internationally renowned legal publications, such as the Chambers and Legal500, recognize Mr. Oh as a “Leading Lawyer” in Dispute Resolution every year since 2015, and Hankyung Business also elected him as the Best Civil Case Attorney (2019) after a survey of in-house lawyers. In terms of external professional activities, he served as a professor of the Judicial Research & Training Institute, legal advisor of the Financial Services Commission and arbitrator of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, and continues to contribute to the legal society as a standing member of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
