Specializes in commercial and corporate law issues and has extensive experience in corporate restructuring, cross-border and domestic M&A and private equity transactions. José also advises foreign clients with the establishment of branches and on inbound investment in Portugal, as well as assists domestic entities with local deals.
Before founding Costa Pinto in 2013, José Costa Pinto worked for Uría Menéndez – Proença de Carvalho and Simmons & Simmons. He was also President of ANJAP - National Association of Portuguese Young Lawyers between 2014 and 2018.
Member of the: Portuguese Bar Association, AIJA - International Association of Young Lawyers and UIA - Union Internationale des Avocats.
Member of the Board of the Portuguese Compliance and Regulatory Observatory and the Corporate Governance Portuguese Institute.
José Costa Pinto is the author and co-author of several technical articles. He is often invited to speak conferences and public events.
José was the exclusive winner of the 2024 and 2022 'Client Choice M&A award for Portugal' and recognised in the Iberian Lawyer ‘Forty under 40 2020 Awards' as the best lawyer in private equity in Iberia under 40 years.
