Career

His professional practice focuses on corporate law, infrastructure projects and international arbitration, having participated in some of the most significant transactions in Peru in the past two decades, as well as in some of the most important disputes related to Peru in recent years.

He is a founding partner of Miranda & Amado (1999). Previously, he was an associate attorney with Wilmer Hale in Washington DC from 1988 to 1991 and served as partner in Estudio Echecopar from 1995 to 1999. He is a former Secretary - General and Chief of Staff to the Peruvian Council of Ministers, and Chief of Advisors to the Prime Minister from 2001 to 2002.

In arbitration matters, his experience includes serving as Chair of the Peruvian Arbitration Institute and of the Peruvian Chapter of Club Español del Arbitraje, as Vice Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce – Peru. He is currently a member of the Board of Officers of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association and Chair of the Lima International Arbitration Court (Amcham).

José Daniel is a lawyer from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú with an LL.M. from Harvard University.

He is the author of several articles and publications, and most recently co-authored Arbitrating the Conduct of International Investors published by Cambridge University Press (2018). He has also been a Visiting Scholar (2013) and Visiting Fellow (2014) at the University of Cambridge, is a professor of International Arbitration at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and teaches graduate courses at Universidad del Pacífico, Universidad ESAN and Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas - UPC.

He is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English.
