José Miguel Ried is one of the founding partners of Ried Fabres. He has extensive experience in capital markets and corporate law.
He began working in the capital markets area more than 20 years ago, as in-house counsel of the Santiago Stock Exchange. He also obtained experience from its experience as associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in NY. He is admitted to practice both in Chile and in New York.
He permanently advises different clients such as the BCI Group, Banco Internacional, Itaú Corpbanca and Zurich in connection with corporate law, corporate governance, and M&A transactions.
In the past, Mr. Ried has participated in relevant transactions such as State Grid’s tender offer over Compañía General de Electricidad (representing Santander), Telefónica’s takeover of CTC through a tender offer, where he represented Telefónica; and Industrias La Construcción’s tender offer of Banco Internacional, where he advised the investment bank in charge of the deal. He has also participated in the restructuring of corporate groups such as Enjoy and Deutsche Bank Chile, the winding up of Argentine stockbroker Allaria in Chile, the organization of a new Pension Fund Management Company (AFP 1) and the corporate restructuring of Itaú and Zurich.
