Member of the New York and the Paris Bar, Joseph Vogel heads up a dedicated competition and distribution law practice, advising long-standing clients from the CAC 40 at both European and national levels.
His expertise spans all areas of French and EU competition and distribution law and he is particularly known for tackling some of the most complex competition law matters in the automobile, aerospace, telecommunications, media & broadcast, retail, and energy sectors for clients such as: Hermes, Mattel, Playmobil, LVMH, L’Oréal, General Motors, Volkswagen group, Mercedes-Benz, Digicel, Beaumanoir Group, Wane Group, Bouygues Telecom, Bouygues Energie, TF1 and ENGIE.

Joseph Vogel is one of the two founders of Vogel & Vogel law firm and is managing partner of the law firm. He founded the firm 34 years ago with his brother, Louis Vogel.

Work Highlights
2023 was another remarkable year for Joseph Vogel as he was instructed to work on some market-leading competition cases, particularly in the telecommunications, TV, aerospace and retail sectors. Merger cases were a key highlight.
Joseph Vogel continues to be active in the firm’s large and ongoing private enforcement cases such as acting for Digicel, for which he obtained a favourable decision before the Cour de cassation (French Supreme Court), or cases in defence to actions for damages for agro-food client Galliance, or Swiss group Forbo.
Joseph Vogel is indeed representing the Swiss Forbo group in a mass private enforcement litigation in defense against more than 300 different procedures for damages before the judicial, administrative and commercial courts.
Antitrust litigation is another strong activity, in important matters such as acting for Schneider Electric against an RPM objection, Pierre Cardin in an investigation conducted by the European Commission, Bouygues Construction Expertises in calls for tender practices.
This year, Joseph Vogel will also represent a trade association (SNFBM) in the appeal against the FCA’s condemnation decision, and Peter Hennen in challenging the decision of the Luxembourg Competition Authority before the administrative court of Luxembourg.
Other key cases include defending, Hyundai, Renault, Stellantis, or TF1 in distribution matters.
