Josh is a specialist junior in human rights, public and administrative law, and public international law. He has acted in significant human rights cases and judicial reviews before domestic and international courts.

He has experience in a wide range of fields, including climate change and the environment, discrimination, homelessness, education, community care, social welfare, immigration and trafficking, and business and human rights.

Recent instructions include: (i) a landmark climate change case against 33 countries in the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights; (ii) an intervention before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in its climate change advisory opinion; (iii) leading judicial reviews on local authorities duties towards homeless persons under the Housing Act 1996; (iv) a judicial review challenging the removal of asylum seekers to Rwanda; (v) a judicial review regarding the failure to increase legacy benefit in line with the Universal Credit uplift during Covid-19; (vi) a judicial review against energy regulators in relation to the energy price cap; and (vii) advising in various tort claims against private companies in relation to environmental harm, modern slavery, and human rights abuse.

Career

Prior to becoming a barrister, Josh worked in different NGOs in the field of public interest litigation. He combines his practice with active involvement in civil society, sitting on the Steering Committee of the ETO Consortium and Executive Committee of Action4Justice.
