Career
As a leading commercial property lawyer, Julian specialises in infrastructure, acquisitions and development. He has accumulated substantial experience and expertise in public works, electricity projects, complex subdivisions and infrastructure leases and easements.
Julian has acted for a range of commercial and government sector clients, including major infrastructure providers. He has recently been involved in the acquisition of land for the new Dunedin Hospital, the amalgamation of New Zealand's rural and urban fire services, the development of new fire and emergency services stations, and the acquisition of property rights for transmission line and generation projects. Julian also regularly provides advice to multiple electricity lines companies on their network development and property requirements and regulatory issues.
In recent years, Julian has submitted on changes to electricity, telecommunications and land transfer legislation, editing the Property Transaction Guidelines relied on for property settlement/completion arrangements in New Zealand, and assisted with the drafting of legislation for the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park and related roading project.
