Karen Lent is co-head of Skadden’s sports practice and head of the New York office’s antitrust/competition practice, representing a wide variety of clients in antitrust, sports and other complex litigation matters at both the trial and appellate court levels. She also provides general antitrust counseling. In Lex Machina’s Antitrust Litigation Report 2024, Ms. Lent ranked first for advising on the most defense-side U.S. antitrust cases from 2021-23.

Work Highlights
In 2023, Ms. Lent successfully defended numerous clients, including:
• PGA Tour in the high-stakes Jones et al v. PGA Tour, Inc. antitrust lawsuit, securing a crucial ruling that allowed the Tour to enforce regulations while litigating with its players, ultimately resulting in a landmark agreement that fundamentally alters the landscape of professional golf.
• Apple in securing the March 2023 dismissal in the closely watched California Crane School, Inc. v. Google LLC et al. class action alleging that Apple’s agreement to make Google the default search engine on Apple's Safari browser and to receive a share of Google Search revenue dissuaded Apple from producing its own search engine.
• Intuitive Surgical in the favorable settlement of federal antitrust claims relating to Intuitive’s sale of service for its da Vinci Surgical Systems and the EndoWrist instruments used to perform surgery with those systems.
• Mowi ASA in the settlement of all price-fixing claims filed by indirect purchaser plaintiffs in In re: Farm-Raised Salmon and Salmon Products Litigation.
• Columbia University in Henry et al v. Brown University et al., alleging price fixing in financial aid methodology, and in NYAG/DOJ antitrust investigations.
