Katherine is an experienced senior junior, whose practice spans employment, education and public law. She is regularly instructed as sole counsel in complex and high value whistleblowing and discrimination claims in the Employment Tribunal. She also acts for and against departing employees, directors and partners in business protection claims, including bonus disputes and restraint of trade cases. She has considerable experience in the financial services sector, as well as in the higher education sector. Her recent public law cases include F v Surrey [2023] 4 WLR 45 (a challenge to a local authority’s policy on access to residential alcohol detoxification treatment), R (Kays) v Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (2023) 26 C.C.L. Rep. 97 (an appeal to the Court of Appeal challenging the regime governing disabled students’ access to universal credit) and R (Good Law Project) v Secretary of State for Education and others [2022] EWHC 1158 (Admin) (a challenge concerning whether local authorities were taking sufficient steps to secure accommodation in their areas for looked after children). She is a member of the Attorney General’s A Panel of Counsel.
